Versions of You
A poem to remind you
You see yourself in photos
Throughout an album’s pages and pictures captured in your phone
You start to remember those versions of you
Memories locked in imperfect moments
Reminding you
Of that time
That place
Those feelings
Where your eyes glitter with joy
Or with a smile to mask your pain
There you are
In versions now known
Layered
With the hope of healing
And a promise to flourish
Different pieces of who you are and who you were
Collected and glued together
Becoming the person you are, right now.

“There you are in versions now known” Isn’t that the thing? In photos from the past, we see exactly where we were in our own faces. And we have the wisdom of hindsight to help us see right through our old masks.
I love how a poem came to you this way. And the bonus recording! Cool!
